La tecnica 5D Diamond Painting è una rivisitazione del tradizionale punto croce:
si utilizza un canovaccio, come nel punto croce, ma al posto della tela aida preforata per il passaggio dell’ago e filo da ricamo viene utilizzata una tela preincollata che riporta la traccia alfanumerica per le posizioni dei vari diamonds/perline che devono aderire alla tela con l’aiuto di una penna che sulla punta dovrà sempre avere una porzione di cera (quadratino rosa) che aiuta a catturare le singole perline. E’ consigliabile, per comodità, sistemare le perle all’interno di sacchetti che riportino il loro codice, per utilizzarle via via, adagiandole nel vassoio così da prenderle sempre con le sfaccettature rivolte verso l’alto per far aderire alla tela il lato piatto della perla.
